HACKENSACK -- The Bergen County Sheriff's Office collected nearly $40,000 in outstanding child support payments in a three-day sweep, Sheriff Michael Saudino said Tuesday.
The sweep was part of a statewide effort to collect from parents who have failed to pay court-ordered child support. It was led by the Sheriffs' Association of New Jersey and state Office of Child Support Services.
The Bergen County Sheriff's Office served 67 warrants over three days and collected $39,331 of the $2.8 million in outstanding payments, Saudino said. Bergen County had the second-highest total collections in the state.
