RAMSEY -- A tire came off a truck and hit a pedestrian before the vehicle left the scene Thursday afternoon in the borough, authorities said.

Police Chief Bryan Gurney said the pedestrian suffered minor injuries in the accident near North Franklin Turnpike and Spring Street. The crash was reported around 12:30 p.m.

In a statement, police described the vehicle as a gray car-carrier or equipment trailer. It was not immediately clear how the "full size tire" separated from the truck.
