HASBROUCK HEIGHTS - An elderly woman died after she was hit by a car crossing a street in Hasbrouck Heights Sunday night, according to police.
The victim was crossing alone in the 200 block of Williams Street when she was struck in the middle of the street about 6:30 p.m., said Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri.
The woman was not in a crosswalk, Colaneri said.
The driver stopped after the accident and waited for police at the scene. He was not charged, Colaneri said.

The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she died at 7:24 p.m., police said.
The woman was not identified.
Police said no charges were filed against the driver.
"At this time it appears to be a tragic accident," Colaneri said.
