Century 21 becomes the latest retailer to sign a lease at the Meadowlands megamall. Watch video
EAST RUTHERFORD -- American Dream has scored another big-time retail tenant: Century 21.
The department store (not the real estate agency) plans to open a 60,000-square-foot location at the under-construction Meadowlands megamall, it announced Wednesday.
Century 21 joins other retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, and as announced in January, European discount retailer Primark.
Raymond Gindi, co-CEO of Century 21, said the decision to come to American Dream was part of his company's expansion strategy on the East coast. The retailer also has stores at Bergen Town Center in Paramus, Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth and in Morristown.
American Dream is being developed by Triple Five. The mall and entertainment complex has 2.9 million square feet of leasable space, and is planned to have more than 500 retailers and restaurants. The complex will also include a DreamWorks water and amusement park.
By last account, the mall is expected to open in summer 2017, though the announcement Wednesday didn't include an opening date.
