The county party endorsed candidates for the June 7 primary
HACKENSACK -- The Bergen County Republican Organization endorsed Donald Trump for president Monday night during its nominations for the June 7 primary, The Record reported.
The county GOP also backed Rep. Scott Garrett for re-election. Garrett faces former White House speechwriter Josh Gottheimer, who has $1.3 million in campaign funds to wield. He also faces backlash for comments about gay candidates.
For three freeholder spots up for election, the party picked incumbent Freeholder Maura DeNicola, former Freeholder John Driscoll and Robert DiDio. The county GOP backed Manuel Alfonso, chief investigator for the Department of Corrections, to run against Sheriff Michael Saudino.
Saudino switched parties in January.
