FORT LEE - Police have identified a man who jumped from the George Washington Bridge on Monday as a Hackensack resident.
Rafael Mendoza, 37, jumped from the south walkway upper level of the bridge shortly after 5 p.m., according to the Port Authority Police Department.
A woman told police she saw a man stop his silver Honda vehicle on the upper-level at mid-span, get out, climb over the rail and jump, police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said in a statement.
The man's body was recovered from the Hudson River and he was transported to the W125 St. Pier, where he was pronounced dead.
The death was the fourth this year at the GWB, authorities said.
