Burglar passes out in encounter, according to borough police
FAIR LAWN -- A good Samaritan caught a car burglar in the act and managed to subdue the man late Wednesday at the Fair Lawn Commons complex, police said.
Officers found the burglar, Kevin Stark Jr., 41, passed out in the parking lot around 10:40 p.m., according to Sgt. Brian Metzler.
The good Samaritan told police he pulled into the lot on Hoitsma Court and spotted Stark taking items from his neighbor's car, Metzler said in a statement.
"When the witness approached Stark about what he was doing, Stark attempted to push off of the witness," Metzler added.

The witness, who knows mixed martial arts, was "able to gain control" of Stark, according to the police statement. Stark passed out in the encounter.
A borough ambulance crew brought Stark to Bergen Regional Medical Center for evaluation. He was charged with robbery, burglary and theft of movable property.
Stark, of Elmwood Park, pilfered baseball equipment, a GPS and the car owner's debit card, according to police.
Authorities said he was ordered held at the Bergen County Jail on $20,000 bail after being medically cleared at the hospital.
