Officials from towns under the new route asked the FAA for a delay.
TETERBORO -- Officials from towns including Ho-Ho-Kus, Mahwah, Paramus, Ramsey, Ridgewood and Rochelle Park asked Federal Aviation Administration officials Wednesday to delay the launch of a new flight path to Teterboro Airport, but their requests were denied, The Record reported.
The FAA plans Monday to start testing a flight path that would avoid Hackensack University Medical Center. The proposed path follows Route 17 to the airport.
Maps published by a navigational aid company ahead of the trial show that it could instead take planes over half a dozen schools and the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
Gary Palm, the air traffic control manager at Teterboro Airport, said the test route would only be used on clear days and only for aircraft using the north-south runway. Otherwise, he said, planes would use routes over Bogota, Teaneck and Carlstadt.
