One person arrested at the scene, spokesman says
BERGEN COUNTY -- An apparently intoxicated person lying between the railroad tracks was arrested after a train passed over him late Saturday afternoon near the Saddle Brook-Elmwood Park line, officials said.
The person, identified only as a male, was not hurt, according to NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith. He was facing charges of interfering with transportation.
"The entire train passed completely over him without striking him at all," Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said. "He was not injured at all."
Train 1775 from Hoboken to Suffern, New York, traveled over the person, the spokesman said. He was taken to an area hospital, but not injured by the train.
The train was delayed up to 50 minutes after the incident, according to the NJ Transit website.
