The Northern Valley Regional high school district topped the list of highest median teacher salaries in Bergen County, according to data released by the state Department of Education this month.
The median teacher salary for the district came in at $95,418, according to the 2015-2016 school year data.
That number declined from $98,433 in the prior year, the data shows.
Northern Valley describes itself as among the top performing school systems in Bergen County and serves about 2,300 students in Harrington Park, Haworth, Norwood, Closter, Demarest, Northvale and Old Tappan.
The Board of Education is set to vote April 25 on an approximately $55 million budget, which does not include a tax increase.
The River Vale Township school district saw its median teacher salary drop from $105,545 in the 2014-2015 school year to $78,270 in the latest report.
School officials have pointed to employing more veteran teachers as one cause of higher median salaries in some area districts.
