SOUTH HACKENSACK - A worker for a provider of tablecloths is accused of arson for allegedly setting fire to a party truck belonging to a company that also sells linens, authorities said Friday.
Jose A. Lopez, 46, of Newark, was arrested and charged with aggravated arson following an investigation into the fire, which occurred Tuesday behind 450 Huyler St., according to police.
The truck belonged to Allen Party Rental, which sells tablecloths and linens.
Lopez worked for an adjoining business, A-1 Tablecloth Company, authorities said.
The party truck was discovered engulfed in flames shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
"Also, the area in which the fire was started was within 10 feet of the property of Memorial School which was in session at the time of the fire," police said in a statement.

Surveillance video showed Lopez was in the area when the fire was set, police said.
Lopez worked for an adjoining business, A-1 Tablecloth Company. The ensuing investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, arson squad and the South Hackensack Police Department led to the arrest of Lopez, police said.
Authorities did not disclose a motive for the alleged arson.
Lopez was held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $60,000, no 10 percent option.
