Police release photos of man wanted in robbery
BERGENFIELD -- Police released a photo of a man they said shoved an elderly woman to the ground and stole her purse Monday afternoon in the borough.
The woman was walking on Sylvan Avenue around 4:11 p.m. when the assailant pushed her from behind, causing the woman to fall, police said in a statement. She suffered an unspecified injury.
The attacker grabbed her purse and ran north on Linwood Street, police said. He eventually got in a dark-colored BMW 5 Series car, police said. The vehicle was last seen northbound on South Washington Avenue.
Police described the robber as in his early 20s, wearing a checkered white t-shirt, black sweat pants, white sneakers, about 5-foot-5 in height.
