"What's up?" Bieber said to the officer, identified as Rob Mantone. "Let's take a picture."
WOOD-RIDGE - Justin Bieber surprised a Bergen County Sheriff's Officer stopped at a red light Sunday and it didn't have anything to do with drag racing or egging a neighbor's house.
Bieber, who had just arrived via Teterboro Airport for several performances in the area, wanted to pose for a photo with the officer, according to the Daily Voice.
"What's up?" Bieber said to the officer, identified as Rob Mantone. "Let's take a picture."
Mantone later posted the photo to his personal Facebook page. The picture was later tweeted by organizers of Bieber fan websites.
Mantone couldn't be reached for comment on Tuesday.
"We are not permitting interviews with that officer in regards to that matter," sheriff's spokesman Anthony Cureton said on Tuesday. Cureton said the officer "did nothing wrong," but he declined to comment further.
This is not the first time Bieber has posed with photos for police.
Several weeks ago, the singer danced with a Houston police officer as onlookers shot video. In 2015, Bieber posed with a police officer at a Beverly Hills juice joint. Before that, he picked up the tab for officers at a diner before posing for a group photo.
