Bushy's Sweet Shoppe in Garfield was a typical corner candy store in New Jersey.

THE CORNER CANDY STORE was a place that you could walk into with a couple of coins and come out with a handful of sweets. Jar upon jar of goodies stood on the counter, while a guy behind the counter always seemed to be scooping up fabulous ice cream sodas and sundaes.

Bushy's Sweet Shoppe in Garfield, seen in this photo from the 1930s, was typical of the corner candy store that once stood in many New Jersey neighborhoods.

On May 19, this photo and other vintage pictures of places to get candy and creamy treats will be featured in a gallery titled "Vintage N.J. photos of ice cream shops and candy stores" on nj.com
