BERGENFIELD -- Two Hackensack siblings led officials to lock down Row W. Brown Middle School for two hours Monday morning, police said.

Roy W. Brown Interim Principal Shane Biggins contacted police at 8:20 a.m. to say he had been informed a 13-year-old boy from Hackensack was trespassing on school grounds.

Bergenfield Board of Education security guidelines called for Biggins to lock the school down, Bergenfield Police said in a media release. Bergenfield police searched the school, while officers from Dumont and Tenafly helped secure the perimeter.

Police searched the school for about two hours. The boy was found at home with his mother, police said.

Security staff instead found the boy's 12-year-old sister trespassing at Bergenfield High School, police said. She was taken to police headquarters.

School officials lifted the lockdown after the boy was found, police said.

Many parents chose to pick up their children, police said. Normal school operations resumed at 12:30 p.m.

Bergenfield Assistant Superintendent Christopher Tully said the district "will prosecute this matter to the fullest extent of the law." The incident remains under investigation.

Police said over Twitter there were no reported weapons or any threat to students' safety.
