N.J. man charged with attempted murder after father attacked

TEANECK - A Ridgefield Park man faces several charges after police say he broke into his father's home and attacked him with a knife as he lay in bed.

Corey Campbell, 34, allegedly broke a basement window about 7 a.m. Thursday and climbed into his parents home on Vorhees Street, according to Teaneck police Chief Robert A. Carney.

Once inside, Campbell went to his parents' bedroom where he assaulted his father with a knife, according to Carney.

Police said they found the father restraining his son, who was armed with a knife.

Man attacked girlfriend, cops say

The father suffered lacerations to his torso and back. He was treated at Holy Name Medical Center and released, police said.

Corey Campbell was charged with attempt to commit murder, burglary, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon, police said.

Police said Campbell was armed with four knives and a boxcutter.

The police chief did not disclose a motive for the attack.

Campbell was held on $1 million full bail, the police chief said.
