ELMWOOD PARK -- A Jersey City man who co-founded the E! Entertainment Television network has offered to buy the building housing Parkway Lanes to help the company that operates it get out of bankruptcy, The Record reported.

MCD Sports, owners of the 36-lane facility, filed for bankruptcy in July.

Under a proposal filed in U.S. District Bankruptcy Court in Newark, MCD Sports would buy the building from landlord JCB Realty, then sell it to Alan Mruvka, who would rent it back to MCD Sports until its lease ends March 31.

JCB Realty opposes the plan, and the attorney representing the company said Mruvka plans to turn the building into a self-storage outlet. Mruvka owns a self-storage company with outlets in Newark, Jersey City and Union City.

Mruvka recently started a storage unit auction YouTube series called "Storage Pirates of New Jersey."
