A search was underway for a missing Paramus man when the body was found Thursday
ALPINE -- Rappel crews and police marine units spent much of the day Thursday retrieving a cadaver from a cliff ledge where it apparently lay for several days, Palisades Interstate Parkway Police said Thursday night.
Police were searching Palisades Interstate Park for 24-year-old Colin Everett of Paramus, who was last seen hiking in the park June 26. The body found Thursday could not immediately be identified, Parkway police said.

The ongoing search for Everett resumed around 9 a.m. Thursday beneath State Line Lookout with assistance from a Bergen County Sheriff's K-9 unit and the Palisades Interstate Park Commission Trail Crew.
The body was found about a quarter-mile north of the lookout in a remote area, touching off an involved recovery effort by members of the Regional Rappel Response team, who had to reach the remains from above. The victim was believed to have been in a fenced-off area closed to the public and away from trails when the victim plummeted to the cliff ledge below.
Additional police and fire units were also transported to the area by boat and approached the body from the cliff base, eventually helping bring it to the Englewood Boat Basin around 7 p.m.
Paramus and Parkway police are investigating to determine the identity of the deceased. A cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Bergen County Medical Examiner.
The death remains under investigation but does not appear suspicious, police also said.
