Bryant Rada, 24, of West New York is charged with third-degree eluding.
ALPINE - Police have arrested a West New York man they say was one of two motorcyclists who fled a police officer two months ago on Route 9W.
Bryant Rada, 24, was arrested after police obtained a warrant to search for evidence in his cell phone identifying him as the fleeing driver, according to Michael Coppola, chief of the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department.
Coppola did not specify the nature of the evidence against Rada.
Rada was charged with third-degree eluding and released pending an Aug. 1 court date.
The pursuit occurred May 16 on U.S. Route 9W in Alpine. A police officer traveling the highway spotted two motorcycles operating "in an extremely unsafe manner," Coppola said.
Officer Michael Griffin activated his lights and siren and chased the motorcycles, which nearly struck an oncoming car while going through a red light at Closter Dock Road, Coppola said.
The chase ended due to heavy traffic, police said.
On May 17, police arrested Michael Morales of Bergenfield, accusing him of being one of the drivers. Morales, 20, is charged with third-degree eluding.
