Police assisted the Bergen County woman.
FORT LEE -- It had to happen during rush hour.
A Bergen County woman went into labor Wednesday at about 7:40 a.m. in a toll lane on the George Washington Bridge, Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.
Port Authority Police assisted the 38-year-old woman, Pentangelo said. She was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. There was no word on the condition of the woman or her baby.
The bridge has been a busy place so far Wednesday. Only an hour earlier, police stopped a man who climbed a railing on the bridge and threatened to jump.
