Steven Fernandez was driving on Interstate 10 when his car was struck head-on
A 26-year-old Bergenfield man was killed in a head-on crash on a rainy highway in Louisiana on Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Steven Fernandez was driving west on Interstate 10 in Slidell around noon when his 2016 BMW 328i collided with an eastbound 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe that moments earlier crossed the center median, Louisiana State Police said.
The Tahoe, driven by a 66-year-old Lacombe, La. man, was then struck by a 2002 Honda Accord.
Fernandez, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was wearing a seat belt. His passenger, a 26-year-old Staten Island, N.Y. woman was hospitalized with "moderate" injuries," authorities said.
The driver of the Tahoe also suffered injuries that are not considering life-threatening.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected to have contributed to the accident.
