The six-month-old canine ran off while on a walk in upper Manhattan last weekend
FORT LEE-- A six-month-old puppy that broke free from his leash and ended up on the George Washington Bridge with a serious injury was reunited with his family after being saved by a couple of Port Authority police officers.
"Ronin" slipped his leash and bolted Saturday afternoon while on a walk along Fort Washington Avenue in Manhattan, Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said.
Officers Fred Corrubia and Jonathan Harder found Ronin on the upper level of the bridge, bleeding heavily from his right paw and leg. The officers rushed the canine to the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus.
Ronin's owner, who called police shortly after he ran off, was told where he was and the two were soon reunited, Pentangelo said.
The puppy is back home and recovering from his injury.
