Most of the highest-paid public officials working in Bergen County are in law enforcement, according to an analysis of salary data.
The person at the top? The police chief in Carlstadt, Thomas Nielsen, who earns $251,336, according to the data.
A number of educators also made the list, some of whom were in the top five, including two superintendents and a principal.
There was only one woman among the top 20 highest-paid.
