HASBROUCK HEIGHTS - Investigators have arrested a Wood-Ridge man and woman after seizing nearly 20 pounds of heroin from their car and home, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Police searched a vehicle parked in the Rite Aid Pharmacy lot at 151 Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights on Thursday and found nearly 9 pounds of heroin in a bag, Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said in a statement.
The occupants of the car, Luis Lopez, 21, and Alida Aguilera, 22, were arrested and charged with drug distribution, Grewal said.
Investigators then searched the couple's Wood-Ridge home, where they found another 11 pounds of heroin, according to the prosecutor.
The street value of the heroin was $540,000, the prosecutor said.
Lopez and Aguilera were charged with distribution of heroin, distribution within 1,000 feet of a school and possession, according to Grewal.
They were held in the Bergen County Jail on $250,000 full bail each.
