GARFIELD - A would-be robber was shot and wounded Thursday night during a holdup at a smoke shop, police confirmed on Friday.
The unidentified suspect was shot at the Tobacco Road store, 320 River Drive.
According to a report on 7online.com, the robber was shot in the leg and taken to a nearby hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
A worker is believed to have shot the robber, according to the report.
Garfield police Capt. Darren Sucorowski on Friday referred all questions to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
A prosecutor's spokeswoman did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
