EAST RUTHERFORD -- A sellout crowd of 76,042 watched the Dallas Cowboys defeat the New York Giants 24-14 on opening day at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford on Oct. 10, 1976.
The Giants began the season with four away games before the home opener; their first win at the stadium and of the 1976 season would come on Nov. 14 against the Washington Redskins.
