Booze train barrels into debris left on tracks

A train carrying booze struck several wooden pallets on Oct. 29, 2016, that had been left on the tracks in Bergenfield.

BERGENFIELD -- A train carrying booze struck several wooden pallets Saturday night that had been left on the tracks in Bergenfield.

The southbound CSX freight train struck the pallets at about 8:45 p.m., Rob Doolittle, a spokesman for CSX, said.

It's not clear who put the pallets on the tracks, Doolittle said. The train stopped after the collision.

Protesters left out of oil train safety meeting

Bergenfield and CSX police investigated. The train took no damage and went on its way after an inspection.

No crew members were injured, Doolittle said. The train was traveling from Selkirk, N.Y., to Oak Island

It had two locomotives and 82 cars containing alcohol.
