EAST RUTHERFORD -- Police identified the man killed in a crash Sunday on Route 120 as a North Bergen man.

Mario Fuentes was 44, East Rutherford Police Chief Larry Minda said.

Fuentes' vehicle traveled from Route 3 west to Route 120 north, where he lost control at about 2:33 a.m., Minda said. The vehicle crashed into a divider and flipped.

Fuentes was the only person in the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:12 a.m.

Police were only able to reach Fuentes' family to notify them late Monday afternoon, Minda said.

Just two weeks before Fuentes' death, former Paramus Catholic High School football star Mike Devenio was killed in a crash nearby on Route 3 east. The collision injured four others.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, which is investigating the crash that killed Devenio, has not revealed any details on the collision.
