NORTHVALE - A 26-year-old woman was seriously injured Monday when she fell more than 30 feet from a wall inside a rock-climbing gym, according to police.

The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the High Exposure Rock Climbing Gym on Union Street, according to Northvale Police Chief William Essmann.

The woman, who was identified only as an upstate New York resident, suffered injuries to her pelvis, back and arm.

"Due to the severity of her injuries, paramedics requested Hackensack AirMed One," Essmann said in a statement.

The helicopter landed at Hogan's Park and the woman was flown to Hackensack University Medical Center, the police chief said.

Her condition was not available on Wednesday.
