Titus Andronicus at a Jersey VFW hall -- just like old times
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS -- Titus Andronicus, the prickly punk outfit that a decade ago secured Glen Rock as a blip on the indie map -- only to relocate to New York -- will head home later this week.
The group led by idiosyncratic screamer Patrick Stickles will play its first Bergen County show in nine years Friday night, 7 p.m. at the VFW Post #4591, just off Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights.
New Jersey band Boosegumps and former Titus guitarist Liam Betson -- about 20 different players have joined Stickles under the band's moniker -- will open.
Tickets are $15, available here.
If you've lost track of the band, we beseech you to check out the group's raging punk-rock opera "The Most Lamentable Tragedy," released in July 2015.
At 92 minutes "Tragedy" is surely a commitment, but the album's reach and urgency marks one of the most fulfilling Jersey punk releases in years. Check out one of the tightest tracks, "Dimed Out," below.
