Jim Jarmusch's film, set in the Passaic County city, opens wide on Dec. 28 Watch video
Director Jim Jarmusch is hosting an early screening of his upcoming film "Paterson" in New Jersey.
No, not in Paterson, but close. Jarmusch will screen the film in Rutherford, birthplace of William Carlos Williams, the poet who wrote the five-volume epic poem "Paterson" published between 1946 and 1958.
The screening, scheduled for Dec. 12 at the William Carlos Williams Center for the Performing Arts -- known to locals as the Williams Center -- will be preceded by a reception with Jarmusch, whose film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
"Paterson," from Amazon Studios, stars Adam Driver as a Paterson bus driver named Paterson and opens in theaters on Dec. 28.
Paterson writes poetry in a notebook, drawing from the scenes and conversations around him. Golshifteh Farahani plays Paterson's wife Laura. The couple lives with their English bulldog, Marvin, in the Passaic County city where the movie was filmed. Driver trained for two months to get his bus license for the part, and the bulldog in the movie, Nellie, posthumously won the Palm Dog Award at Cannes for her performance.
The event starts with a reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the movie screening at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. Admission $40; visit williamscenter.org
