Participants in the game stand in one of 30 designated spots inside the 750-square-foot venue, which features a movie theater-size screen, surround sound and synchronized lights.
Users control a handheld touch screen device, similar to an iPhone, as a controller during the game. They then dodge, fly, tackle and shoot in various games such as an "Asteroids" type game. The company, ESC Games, has also partnered with movie studio Warner Bros. to develop original games.
The attraction also features a live guide to explain the game and help players.
The interactive multi-player concept has been hosted at various pop-up locations throughout the United States, most recently New York City. The Paramus location is the first full-time installation of the game.
ESC Game Theater is open Thursday and Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Users can join a single game, which lasts about 10 minutes, for $5.
