A 60-year-old man has been charged with fondling a 27-year-old woman during her job interview in a Weehawken restaurant and then in an Uber car.

JERSEY CITY -- A 60-year-old man staying in an Edgewater hotel has been accused of groping a potential employee during an incident that allegedly began restaurant on the Weehawken waterfront and continued in an Uber car.

Zulfikar Bekar is charged with criminal sexual contact for using force or coercion to kiss and hug the 27-year-old New York woman. He is also accused of grabbing her genital area through her pants on Friday while inside the Pershing Road restaurant, the criminal complaint says.

Bekar and the woman were meeting to discuss the possibility of her employment, Weehawken Police Capt. Iggy Mitolo said this morning, adding that Bekar is apparently the president of a company.

The complaint goes on to say that the incident continued in the back seat of an Uber car on the way to Bekar's hotel in Edgewater. The hotel is the only address given for Bekar on the complaint and to police.

Mitolo said the pair had apparently agreed to share the car as they left the restaurant to go their separate ways and at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday she called the police.

Probable cause for the charge is listed as the victim's statement and the statements of witnesses.

Bekar made his first court appearance on the charges on Monday in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City via video link from Hudson County jail in Kearny.

His bail was preliminary set at $25,000 cash or bond but that was to be reviewed with an attorney from the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit present.
