USPS is investigating one of its employees, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.

MAHWAH -- A city postal worker is under investigation by the United States Postal Service, a spokeswoman with USPS confirmed on Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials told NorthJersey.com that USPS worker Jeffrey Stepp was arrested after he was allegedly driving drunk.

Police performed a sobriety test on Stepp, 53, and arrested him based on the test results and observations they made. Police were called by the Mahwah postal inspector and told that the driver might be intoxicated, according to the report.

Stepp was reportedly issued a summons for driving while intoxicated.

Stepp has been a city letter carrier with the Mahwah post office since 1988, Maureen Marion, manager of corporate communications at USPS, said Wednesday.
