The 250,000-square-foot spa will also feature 32 hotel rooms.
EDGEWATER -- A new spa resort is set to open on River Road next month.
SoJo Spa Club, an 250,000-square-foot eight-story spa and hotel located at 660 River Road will open in January 2017, according to a press release.
The hulking gray building, across from Trader Joe's, will feature an infinity pool overlooking the Hudson River, 32 hotel rooms and indoor and outdoor restaurants.
"We have taken some of the most coveted natural therapies from around the world and have made it possible to experience them in one marvelous location" said Atif Youssef, general manager of SoJo Spa Club, in a statement. "You simply won't find this variety of international influence and combination of amenities anywhere else in the area."
Spa amenities include outdoor hot tubs, seven different sauna rooms and specialty pools. The site also includes 300 parking spaces and employ upwards of 220 people.
A family friendly floor will include pools, water slides and splash pads for children.
Mayor Michael McPartland rescinded criticism from a local Facebook group that the spa would bring a party like environment, similar to what was reported at Spa Castle in Queens, N.Y., because the spa does not have a liquor license.
"It's a great operation and I can't wait for it to open," McPartland said. "It is not going to burden our schools, it will give back a nice ratable and has a family element."
Over $30 million dollars was put into building the spa according to McPartland.
Pricing for a day pass or membership was not available.
