The rivalry continues tonight when Taj Benning and Bergen Catholic travel to Ramsey to take on rival Don Bosco Prep in a NJ.com Top 20 showdown. Bergen Catholic enters as the 7th-ranked team in the state, while Don Bosco comes in at No. 12.
In what could be a Bergen County Jamboree final preview, this is the first of two regular season games between two heated rivals. The Crusaders and Ironmen will also meet in Oradell on Feb. 2.
Last season, Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco split two regular season meetings. Bergen Catholic won the first, 61-52, behind 19 points from Gabriele Stefanini and 16 points from Benning. Don Bosco avenged that loss two weeks later with a 61-44 triumph. Chris Paul led all scorers with 18 points and Marcellus Earlington chipped in with 14.
