TD Bank at the corner of Vogt Lane and Main Street was reportedly robbed about 1 p.m. on Sunday.

LITTLE FERRY - Police are looking for a man they say grabbed a teller and pried money out of her hand because she was taking too long.

The robbery occurred about 1 p.m. Sunday at TD Bank located at 225 Main Street.

Police responding to a 911 call spoke with bank employees who said a man approached a woman teller and handed her a note demanding money and stating that no one would get hurt.

"He stated that he had a weapon in his pocket. He had his right hand in his sweatshirt pocket," said police Det-Sgt. Ronald M. Klein Jr.

"The teller hesitated and the male then reached across the counter and grabbed her by the shirt and forcibly took the money from her," Klein said.

The man got away with about $3,900 before fleeing on foot toward the rear of the bank, police said.

A police dog tracked the robber's scent to a nearby parking lot, where police believe the man escaped in a vehicle.

The suspect was about 5-feet, 10-inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, work boots and a dark gray wool hat, police said. He was in his twenties and had facial hair, according to police.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the robbery is asked to call police at 201-641-2770.
