Health officials are warning residents in Wyckoff after a feral cat tested positive for rabies.
WYCKOFF -- Officials are warning township residents after a feral cat tested positive for rabies.
The animal was found near West Main Street, according to flyer put out by the Bergen County Health Department.
The cat is one of many feral cats in the area, officials said. Residents are warned to stay away from wild animals including cats and kittens.
Residents are advised to contact their local police department if they are scratched or bitten by an animal in the area.
Last month, a 66-year-old man was attacked by a rabid coyote as he walked his two dogs along the Columbia Trail in Washington Township in Morris County, police said.
Township police and county health officials did not immediately return a request for comment.
