Oakland Diner on Ramapo Valley Road will reopen on Wednesday
OAKLAND -- A popular diner that closed last month due to a fire will reopen Wednesday.
Oakland Diner on Ramapo Valley Road will once again serve customers on Wednesday morning, owner Harry Mihas said.
"We just want to open up and put everyone back to work," Mihas said Tuesday."Our guys were out of work for seven to eight weeks."
The diner closed in mid-December after a boiler room fire knocked out the utilities, NorthJersey.com reported.
Members of the community raised over $16,000 on GoFundMe for the staff as they remained out of work.
"This is the best community ever, I've never met people like this," said Mihas. "They were good to me and my workers."
While the location was closed for repairs, Mihas used the opportunity to update a bathroom, and perform electrical and plumbing work.
While there are no plans for a celebration, Mihas said he is just happy to open after what felt "like a year."
