One of the retailer's famous red bollards was knocked loose at a Paramus Target recently.
PARAMUS - A two-ton cement ball used as a bollard outside a Target store became dislodged, rolling through the store parking lot and striking a moving vehicle, reportedly causing thousands in damage.
Target's famous red ball, which is meant to protect the store entrances, was knocked loose by a pickup truck passing through the lot, as seen on surveillance video obtained by 7online.com.
Shopper Eileen Grady told 7online the ball struck her Nissan Rogue, causing about $3,500 in damage.
The ball ricocheted off Grady's car and kept rolling. A man jumped out of his car, followed by his dog, to stop the ball. The video shows three men rolling the ball across the parking lot to the store entrance, where an employee placed a cone nearby.
According to 7online, Grady filed a claim with Target's insurance company, but the claim was denied.
Police were unable to make out the license plate of the truck that struck the bollard, according to 7online.
