HACKENSACK -- A Texas man faces charges in Bergen County of engaging in sexually explicit online chats with a 12-year-old, authorities said Thursday.
Robert Doverspike, 20, was arrested at his Grand Prairie, Texas, home Thursday after investigators served a search warrant at the residence, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli. He was also interviewed by authorities.
Doverspike used online screen names of "rsquared2013" and "randomrobbie2013" and contacted the child on the Kik and ooVoo messaging sites, Molinelli said in a statement.
"Doverspike would request and instruct the 12 year old to create videos and photographs of him/her engaged in various sexual acts," according to the prosecutor's statement.
Authorities said Doverspike also sent the child explicit videos and images of himself.
Doverspike was being held in Texas, pending extradition to New Jersey on charges of aggravated sexual assault, manufacturing child pornography and child endangerment, according to the prosecutor.
The prosecutor's Computer Crimes Unit led the investigation with assistance from Grand Prairie police detectives, Molinelli added.
Officials did not release further information about the case.
