BERGEN COUNTY -- Police departments across Bergen County are collecting toys for children in need during the holiday season.
Dozens of local departments and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office are participating in the annual PBA holiday tradition.
Toys collected from the effort benefit terminally ill, hospitalized children and other young people in need, according to organizers.
Police will deliver the toys to the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital in Hackensack, Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey, Birthright of Bergen County, Tomorrow's Children Hospital and military families, according to the sheriff's office.
Organizers said unwrapped toys can be dropped off at participating police departments until Dec. 14.
The Lodi Police Department posted a list of agencies accepting donations. Anyone with questions can contact local police departments or the sheriff's Community Outreach Unit at 201-336-3540.
The sheriff's office said it is accepting donations at the Bergen County Justice Center, 10 Main Street in Hackensack, at either the Main Street or Hudson Avenue entrances.
