FORT LEE -- Mayor Mark Sokolich said 2016 would be a busy year in Fort Lee, with construction expected to start on a second 50-story apartment complex, a borough-owned movie theater and a Main Street parking facility, The Record reported.
The school district also expects to start work in the spring on a four-story educational wing at the middle school and a project to add 10 more instructional rooms at School 2, Superintendent Kenneth Rota said.
The change will transform the middle school into Grade 5-8 campus.
The borough also plans to open three new public parks this year, Sokolich said.
The first of the two Modern towers started leasing in October 2014. Together with the yet-to-be-completed second tower and the Hudson Lights mixed-use development next door, the new buildings would add 1,300 residents to Fort Lee once fully leased.
The borough has planned improvements to its streets and traffic systems, while voters approved a $50 million bond referendum for construction at the schools to account for the new residents.
