The same man dressed as two different superheroes brought police to East Ridgewood Avenue twice in six months.
RIDGEWOOD - Thankfully, these comic-book crusaders were not faster than a speeding bullet.
Two superheroes - reportedly the same man in different costumes - brought Ridgewood police to the East Ridgewood Avenue business district twice in six months.
The latest occurred last Thursday when a man dressed as Superman entered The Originals Salon and sat in the lobby.
"He had the cape, the tights, everything," said Mario Raimondi, who works at Moxie Blow Dry and Beauty Bar across the street. "He was a big kid."
The man in the costume, who has not been named by police, didn't have an appointment and didn't say anything, according to the receptionist.
"It was just a weird situation," said the woman, who declined to give her name. "We just felt we needed for the police to be called."
"Upon arrival, officers found a heavily intoxicated 29-year-old male from Hackensack sitting in the lobby," Ridgewood police said in a statement. Officers drove the man to The Valley Hospital for treatment related to the intoxication.
It wasn't the first time, according to reports.
On July 4, 2015, a man in a Captain America costume perched himself on the roof of Moxie Blow Dry and Beauty Bar, across the street from The Originals Salon.
He would not come down on his own.
Members of the Ridgewood Fire Department helped remove the man using a ladder truck with a bucket attached.
"He was a little intoxicated at the time," said fire department Lt. John Judge.
Again, the man was taken to The Valley Hospital for treatment.
Ridgewood police Captain Jacqueline Luthcke said Tuesday that the man's name would not be released to the public because he has not been charged with a crime.
