Jets' $324K settlement with cheerleaders approved, report says

Flight Crew members said they didn't get paid to practice nor were they compensated for other expenses Watch video

A group of more than four dozen current and former Jets cheerleaders who allege the NFL team shorted them pay has settled their lawsuit against the franchise.

The $324,000 settlement was reached in August but approved in Superior Court in Bergen County on Friday, according to NorthJersey.com.

The 52 women said they weren't paid during the time they spent practicing nor were they reimbursed for expenses associated with being part of the Flight Crew during 2012 and 2013.

In one example, a woman noted all cheerleaders were required to have straight hair. Since her hair is naturally curly, the cheerleader had to pay to have her it straightened and wasn't permitted to expense it.

The plaintiffs also allege they weren't paid for time they spend at team calendar photo shoots or pre- and post-game events.

The cheerleaders were also responsible for supplying their own makeup and paying their own way to reach MetLife Stadium for home games, the suit said. The Flight Crew doesn't attend road games.

Each woman will receive from $2,559 to $5,913 depending on how long they were with the team, the report said.

Each cheerleader was paid $150 per game and $100 per appearance at special events.

Valued at $2.6 billion according to Forbes, the Jets didn't admit to any wrongdoing in settling the suit. In a statement, they also noted their pay and expense reimbursement practices in 2014 and 2015 were "not in dispute."
