Car and identification recovered, police say
A 48-year-old Brooklyn man jumped from the George Washington Bridge Thursday, Port Authority police said.
New York City fire department rescue crews pulled the man from the Hudson River around 10:30 a.m., according to police spokesman Joseph Pentangelo.
Police said the man was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Hospital and pronounced dead.
Two witnesses told police the man stopped his car on the upper level New Jersey-bound lanes and plunged from the bridge's north walk, near the New York tower, the spokesman said.
The man's car and identification were recovered, but his name was not yet released.
