Investigators have "tentative" identification after matching fingerprints, police say

FORT LEE -- Investigators have found no signs of foul play in the death of a man whose body was discovered near Ross Dock, along the Hudson River shoreline Thursday morning, police said.

Investigators with the Bergen County Sheriff's Office matched fingerprints from the man and developed a "tentative" identification, the Palisades Interstate Parkway police said in a statement. The man's name was not yet released.

The man was between 40 to 50 years old, according to police. He was dead for the last 24 to 48 hours before being discovered.

Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call around 11:15 a.m. reporting a body on the shore, near Ross Dock, an area in the Palisades Interstate Park. The site is just north of the George Washington Bridge.

Port Authority police, the Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office and sheriff's officers assisted PIP police detectives at the scene.

Police said they expected to release further information as the investigation continued.
