Silverio Hernandez, 24,was charged with DWI, refusal to take a breathalyzer, assault by auto and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, police said.
LYNDHURST - A Belleville man was arrested Monday night and charged with DWI after allegedly crashing into two cars and injuring one person, according to police.
Silverio Hernandez, 24, struck a vehicle head-on about 8:30 p.m. in the area of Route 3 and Rutherford Avenue, said police Det. Vincent Auteri.
A passenger in the other car suffered minor injuries, police said.
After the crash, Hernandez allegedly backed away and drove off, witnesses told police.
A short time later Hernandez struck a parked car near Lake and Summit Avenues in Lyndhurst, according to police.
The crash disabled Hernandez's vehicle and police said they found him standing nearby after a witness called to report the incident.
Hernandez was charged with DWI, refusal to take a breathalyzer, assault by auto and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, Auteri said.
While he did not sustain physical injuries due to the crashes, Hernandez was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center to be treated for intoxication, Auteri said.
