FBI offers $5K reward in search for the 'Countdown Bandit'

At least one man is wanted in seven North Jersey bank robberies since last summer.

NEWARK -- The FBI in Newark is turning up the heat on the "Count Down Bandit." 

The agency is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a the person or persons responsible for robbing seven banks in North Jersey since July.

According to the FBI, in most of the robberies, an individual approached a bank teller, demanded money, counted down from 10 or 15 to one and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

In all seven of the robberies, the subject has been described as a black or Hispanic male, between five-foot, eight inches tall and six feet tall, in his mid-30's and athletically built. 

The robberies, according to the FBI, occurred March 8 at M&T Bank on Route 23 in Wayne; Dec. 29, 2015, at the Hudson City Bank, 249 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell; Dec. 3, 2015 at the Hudson City Bank, 435 Lewandowski St., Lyndhurst; Nov. 6, 2015 at the Hudson City Bank, 897 Prospect St., Glen Rock; Oct. 23, 2015, the Hudson City Bank, 715 River Road, New Milford; Aug. 12, 2015 at the Hudson City Bank, 1070 Main St., River Edge; and July 1, 2015, at the Community Bank of Bergen County, 125 W. Pleasant Ave., Maywood.

The FBI also said citizens should not try to apprehend a fugitive on their own and should dial 911 in an emergency.
