TEANECK -- Emergency responders rescued a man who was stuck in the mud of the Hackensack River Wednesday, authorities said.
The man was in a kayak, but got stuck when the river tide went out, according to the Hackensack Fire Department. Teaneck and Hackensack firefighters used ropes and a backboard to free the man.
He was checked by members of the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps, but was not hurt, officials said. The man, whose name was not released, was about waist deep in the mud.
Authorities were at the scene, near the Hackensack River County Park.
